2013 Summer Screening Guide!

Cheap Date Philadelphia is happy to bring back one of its most popular posts: a night-by-night guide to what’s screening in the city this summer, where, and when. Brunch Adventure in Collingswood, NJ!

Philly has plenty of cheap and lovely brunch spots.  You can’t beat the $10 Kegs and Eggs at Distrito, or the $5 classic breakfast at the adorable Fitzwater cafe.  But if you’ve been-there-done-that and are looking for something new, different, and exciting, why not make a day trip out of it and make your way to Tortilla Press in Collingswood, New Jersey?  Every weekend, this Mexican-influenced restaurant serves a $6 Early Bird brunch from 10:00-noon that’s worth getting up early for! Collingswood was originally buildt as a railroad suburb of Camden, but over the last few decades its been renovated in an effort to make the area a restaurant destination, and almost all of the restaurants are BYO. Eat, Play, And Win Hearts at Barcade!

The area of Fishtown around the intersection of Girard and Frankford is packed with places to take a date.  The $8-10 live music shows at Johnny Brenda’s are always a good bet, but if you are looking for something a little more interactive, check out Barcade.  It’s just what it sounds like — a Bar and an Arcade under one big roof.  But it’s not just any bar – you could easily spend half an hour choosing from their extensive selection of craft beer offerings; And it’s not just any arcade — Barcade specializes in those nostalgic, hard-to-find arcade games of the 80s and 90s like Frogger, Galaga, Burgertime and Rampage.
